HAVANA.- Women discus throwers Denia Caballero and Yaime Perez will be the Cuban representatives in the opening of the 2018 IAAF Diamond League, which will feature 14 meetings.

Perez, who finished fourth both in the World Championships of Beijing 2015 and London 2017, currently appears fourth in the world ranking with mark of 67.82 meters, while Caballero (66.09 m), world champion in Beijing and Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, ranks fifth.

Last season, Perez totaled 25 points and was the runner-up in the general classification of this competition; while Caballero finished third with 23 units.
Croatian Sandra Perkovic (31), twice Olympic and world monarch, was the winner of the women´s discus throw event.

Perkovic, and Australian Dani Stevens, Berlin 2009 world champion and London 2017 silver medalist, will be the main rivals of the Cuban duo in Doha.
