The three sole survivors of the May 18 Havana’s plane crash where 110 people died, are in extreme critical condition after 72 hours at the Calixto Garcia Hospital in this capital city.

Cuba will hold nationwide drill to prepare for disasters

The Meteoro, a Cuban nationwide drill to prepare the population to face disaster situations will have its first day of activities today, when the System of Measures of the National Civil Defense Staff (EMNDC) will enter into action.

At 12:08 pm today, a Boeing 737-200, leased by Cubana de Aviación, with a contracted foreign crew and 104 passengers aboard, traveling from Havana to Holguín on flight DMJ 0972, fell to the ground as it was taking off, in an area between José Martí International Airport and the town of Santiago de Las Vegas. Search and rescue teams are at the site. More information will be forthcoming on the unfortunate accident.

Cuba submits report at UN Human Rights Council

Cuba will keep working to improve its economic and social model, said foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez as he submitted the island’s report in Geneva at the Human Rights Council Universal Periodical Review.
