Calle 13 planned to arrive in this nation on Sunday, but according to President Rafael Correa in his account @MashiRafael: "Unfortunately, they were not able to come from Chile, because Rene Perez was sick. We wish him a speedy recovery. I have no choice than singing myself..."
The Puerto Rican artist answered to the president, using the same social network: "Thank you Rafael. I am recovering. Once I am healthy, I will be able to go sing together and support such an important project."
Calle 13 is a rap rock-rap fusion band from Puerto Rico, led by Rene Perez Joglar and his half brother Eduardo Cabra Martinez, a.k.a. Visitante (Visitor), known by its satiric lyrics about topical Latin American cultural and political issues.
The group decided to join Ecuador, together with other international figures, in solidarity with this South American nation to support its struggle against the US multinational company.
