CAMAGÜEY.- Due to its integral results of 2022, the Culinary Association of Camagüey (ACC) reached the third national place, only preceded by its counterparts from Matanzas and Ciego de Ávila, in that order.

Such location was conferred during the recent plenary session of the Federation of Culinary Associations of the Republic of Cuba (FACRC), held in the country's capital.

Among the most important actions developed by the ACC, the arragement of 33 courses and workshops of various specialties of the business stand out, in which 1,414 chefs from all the Camagüey municipalities graduated, which represents a 94.5% promotion.

The Association maintains a close link with hospital institutions to improve food processing, its specialists make up the juries of the science and technique forums of Commerce companies and impart improvement actions in hotels and other tourism dependencies, especially in the Camagüey city and the poles of Cayo Cruz and Santa Lucía beach.

They also work to rescue typical recipes from this region and the whole country, as well as using cassava and rice flour in confectionery, instead of imported wheat, for which they systematically carry out radio programs and specialized television.

For this year, in addition to increasing these practices, it is proposed to strengthen the cooperation ties with the University of Camagüey, especially with the Food Sciences career, continue the investigation of the history of the ACC and consolidate the link with the Federation of Women Cubans through women's orientation houses.

The Association currently has 3,019 members, of whom 1,165 are cooks, but only 471 of them are women, a number that they plan to increase this year.
