CAMAGÜEY.- Given the imminent danger of collapse of the building of the José Martí polyclinic (Center), in this city, it was necessary to transfer all the services offered there, such as care for prematurity and ultrasound, to the Previsora polyclinic; the system of community projection cases will be in the nearest family doctors and nurses offices; and the clinical laboratory will work in the Municipal Hygiene and Epidemiology Unit, located on República Street.
The information offered by Dr. Michel Alfonso Figueroa, director of Public Health in the municipality of Camagüey, includes that the Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) consultations and its provincial laboratory will go to the Ignacio Agramonte polyclinic, while that of allergy to that of Previsora.
Cases with an indication for ultrasound and diabetic patients with foot ulcers will be assisted at the Mental Health Center on Cristo Street. On Padre Valencia street (next to the Principal Theater) the one related to people in the process of driving licenses will be relocated, with ophthalmology and refraction included.
Dr. Alfonso draws attention to what has caused the most dissatisfaction, and it is the need to have a place, within the historic center of the city, for the guardhouse for emergencies, especially in this population of more than of 30 thousand inhabitants, of these a non-negligible number with more than 60 years. Until now, those who need to go to this vital service have to go to the Ignacio Agramonte or Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel polyclinics, depending on the proximity of the patient.
Around 23 million pesos have been allocated to this polyclinic, which was repaired 18 years ago and provides all medical specialties, including an operating room for minor surgeries, for its reconstruction, which will be borne by the Office of the Historian of the City, and will last no less than one year, added Dr. Michel Alfonso.
In the next few hours, the reorganization results that are yet to materialize will be reported, so that the population knows where to go in each case.
