CAMAGÜEY.- Seven projects, certified as Provincial Citma Award for the result of remarkable research, for their contribution to the country’s scientific heritage and to the national economy, endorse the distinction earned by the University of Camagüey to deserve the seat of the provincial act for the Day of Cuban Science to be celebrated the next January 15.

Three main subjects: the production of food, climate change and health were the cornerstones of the press conference summoned by the delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the province, to disclose the schedule for this event, that started on December 3rd at the birth home of the distinguished Camagüeyan scientist Carlo J. Fínlay, and that will continue with a series of lectures, workshops and balance meetings of the scientific community in the province.

The press conference took place at the seat of the City Scale Model, and counted with the intervention of the institutions of the tech-science system in the territory that are directly linked to the Citma, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Health, Biotechnology, University of Camagüey, National Institute of Tropical Viands Research and the Agrarain-forestall Experimental Station, among others.

The contributions of the people in the panel allowed the press to know about the development of national and international projects in the field of agriculture, specially on the subjects of the recovery of soils, the performance of agricultural production and the system for the selection of quality seeds. On the other hand, reports about drugs and treatments for human and animal health through vaccines and medical procedures, added interest to a conference marked by the concerns about the impact of climate change in our agrarian economy, as well as the risks and vulnerabilities of the shores in our province with informations about the programs conducted to mitigate the danger.
