CAMAGÜEY.- Carlos J. Finlay, un siglo de gloria (a century of glory) is the name of the exposition inaugurated yesterday in the birth home of the relevant Camagüeyan doctor, as the beginning of the schedule for the Day of Cuban Science, organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma, Spanish Acronym) in our province, that coincides this December 3rd with the Day of Latin American Medicine.
The exposition, made of copies of documents, photos, distinctions and manuscripts belonging to Finlay, was donated to his Birth Home by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), after being in Paris, France, for an exposition about the doctor’s life, during the 38th Unesco Meeting for the 70 years of the foundation of this United Nations international institution.
The Lic. Liosha Arias Artiles, director of the Department of Environmental Supervision and Control in the Citma, was in charge of the key speech for the exposition, showing that this sample now inaugurated means a heritage for the cultural facility.
As a preamble for the exposition, the Carlos J. Finaly’s Birth Home developed a program of historic approach with medicine students from the University of Medical Sciences Carlos J. Finlay and other education institutes. The sample will be open for the public during the entire celebration for the Day of Cuban Science on January 15, 2020.
