CAMAGÜEY.- The first Choreography Contest Fernando Alonso in memóriam will start today with a lecture by the prestigious critic Ismael Albelo about the challenges in dance in Cuba.

It will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Audiovisual Complex Nuevo Mundo, where, on December 5, Reinaldo Echemendía, director of Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, will talk about the music and dance creation and performance.

The Principal Theater will present the works that are contesting for three places in the categories of elementary and medium level and professional field, with shows on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 p.m.

Besides the tribute to Fernando Alonso, the maestros Regina Balaguer and María Herminia Martínez, directors of the Camagüey Ballet and the Promotion Center Fernando Alonso, respectively, will receive a peculiar recognition for their 40 years of professional career.

Kenny Ortigas, vice president of the Provincial Council of Stage Arts, told Adelante Digital that a workshop-class is scheduled at the seat of the Folkloric Ballet with the disassembly of the show San La Muerte y los Muertos, on day 6 at 10:00 a.m.

Also, Mario Junquera, director of Teatro del Espacio Interior, will give a demonstrative lecture of the elements of performance for the actor dancer at the seat of Camagüey Contemporary Ballet.

The awarding of the contest, only for professionals that live in the province, will be on the night of the Saturday at the Principal Theater, on the same stage that, on day 8, the children from the Promotion Center Fernando Alonso will dance.
