CAMAGÜEY.- Once again, the name of the University of Camagüey (UC) stands out at the national level in academic matters. On this occasion, it was the doctors of science Yailé Caballero Mota, director of International Relations and Olga Lidia Pérez González, professor and senior researcher, who became news when they were awarded by the Cuban Society of Mathematics and Computing (SCMC).
Caballero Mota, an expert in artificial intelligence, won the Sofía Kovalevskaya Award in the research section, while Pérez González was awarded a mention in the Teaching category.

In an online interview with the official UC website www.reduc.edu.cu, Yailé expressed her gratitude for being recognized and described it as pride. “It is a recognition that has great significance for Cuban women in the development of scientific research and strengthens their role in the construction of socialism. Sofía was a Russian academic who worked as a university professor of mathematics and represents the progress and equality of women at work and advances in science ”.

In the same way, Olga Lidia explained that the award also belongs to all of her colleagues from the UC Educational Mathematics Group because with their daily work they demonstrate the dedication of women to the development of science and society. "I am honored to be one of those chosen and I thank the SCMC for valuing my career."
The jury of the contest, made up of five specialists and chaired by Dr. Herminia Hernández, National Prize for Pedagogy and Teaching of Mathematics, took into account, in addition to the curricular system of each one, the impact and scope of their studies in the solution of social problems.
The Award is sponsored by the Kovalevskaya Foundation and has been convened and awarded biannually in Cuba since 2005.
