The most dangerous corporal risk weight for the health of the baby is that of less than 1 000 and than 1 500 grams, and it is among the principal causes of infant mortality of this institution.
Sigfrido Valdés Dacal, director of the center, warned on the need of taking this improvement as a spur to strengthen the work in the decrease of the factors of preconceptional risk and during the pregnancy, from the primary health care, since the prematurity and the consistent low weight are associated with modifiable variables.
Among them there are the arterial hypertension, the nicotinism and the alcoholism, the infections of sexual transmission and a bad nutrition, all prevenibles if there is realized a suitable familiar planning, a precocious diagnosis of the gestation and an effective follow-up care.
Dr. Yaquelín Ponce de León, official of the Program of Maternal-Infantile Attention in the province, confirmed that ingeneral. in the territory there is supported a high per cent of survival of the born with low weight, but that this tendency increased since 2013 until 2014.
Preventive actions are executed at primary attention level, and with specialists' advice, like educational chats on familiar planning and preconceptional risk, use of the progesterone in pregnant women to prepare the prematurity in the childbearing, and the promotion of the administration of tablets of folic acid.
Also the newly graduated doctors are being trained, especially those located in places of difficult access, for a major control of the pregnant women of these places, although Dr. Ponce de León insisted on the responsibility of the family, and especially of the couple, on the protection of the gestation.
