CAMAGÜEY.- A panel was devoted to the figure of the remarkable songwriter and musician Adalberto Álvarez as part of the theoretical day developed within La Fiesta del Tinajón, event that is dedicating its current edition precisely to the artistic work of its creator.

Among the presentations, the one that stood out the most was the one by the researcher Verónica Fernández Díaz about the Álvarez family and their influence in Cuban music. “They have been an important pillar for the local music, the training of other musicians and have carried Cuban music to the national and international context”, said the specialist.

His friend, and also singer Simón Roberto, deepen about the beginnings of his brilliant career as Caballero del Son. He referred to the gifts of that boy that did not know yet about music keys “but was able to produce excellent rhythms”.

On the other hand, the director of the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, Reinaldo Echemendía Estrada, displayed the values that underlie in his works from the aesthetic and formal point of view: “The music that comes from his arrangements and compositions offer us elements that take us the most genuine part of our history. In them, nothing overreaches, there is measure and cadence that inspire a respect to himself and his audience”.

Other expected moments were the presentations of the titles Las charangas y sus maravillas. Orquesta Aragón, by José Loyola Fernández and the presentation of articles selected from the magazine La Liga, by Heydi Cepero Recoder and María Antonia Borroto Trujillo, respectively. Later on, Yoelxy Pillinier López, presented the documentary Yo soy del son a la salsa, by the filmmaker Rigoberto López Pego, and then the audience enjoyed the film that is about the work of Adalberto, who has given his life to and for art.
