CAMAGÜEY.- La Fiesta del Tinajón, annual event destined to promote Cuban culture and especially the culture of this province, will return, in its eighth edition, to delight the audience from Camagüey with its diverse propositions from December 18 to 23.

The event, that will be devoted to the 46 years of artistic life of its creator, the musician Adalberto Álvarez, and the 35 anniversary of his band, will start on Wednesday 18, at 9:00 p.m., with an opening gala at the Avellaneda Theater with the performance of artists such as the Duet Voces, Cebollita y Florecita, the group Rumbatá and Adalberto Álvarez and his band will close the night. In the following days, the activities will be carried out in the diverse spaces of the Casino Campestre.

According to the managing director of the event, Fernando Medrano Vireya, as of Thursday, a theoretic event will start in the Literary Café La Comarca, of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. There will be displayed audiovisuals such as Yo soy del son a la salsa and there will be launching and selling of books.

During the days, the cabaret El Tinajón will host two shows in the amphitheater of the Cultural and Recreational Center Casino Campestre. On the initial day, the audience will enjoy the rhythms of the Folkloric Company Camagua and on the next day, the rhythms of the Maravilla de Florida Orchestra. At the same place, but on the 21, the group Rumbatá will perform and, at midnight, Adalberto Álvarez y su Son will offer a dancing time for the Camagüeyans.

There will be 13 active featured areas, in the already mentioned park, like the Corner of Rumba, the Farmers’ Corner, that will move to the yard of the Emperador Restaurant, the Tableau of Wonders and the Corner of Bolero.

Adalberto Álvarez declared for the press that in spite of the changes in the schedule of the event, in the current edition, it was organized in such a way “that the culture of this province look alike with its people”. Undoubtedly, the people of Camagüey will look forward to this celebration that gathers the best of its cultural doing.
