The historical event takes place after June 1st, 2015 the presidents of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz and of the United States, Barack Obama, exchange letters in which they expressed the decision of both governments of reestablishing the diplomatic ties.
The Cuban Government confirmed in this moment, in a declaration, that the opening of the head office in Washington would be realized in the presence of a delegation presided by the Secretary of State, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and integrated by outstanding personalities of the island nation.
For its part, the Government of the United States, which embassy will be set up officially in the later days, announced the designation of Jeffrey DeLaurentis as temporary chargé d'affaires of the head office in Havana, which will take root in the building of the previous Office of Interests, where the designated one was occupying the head charge.
It is opened in perspectives, after this important step, a complex way that under the observance of the Chart of the United Nations and the Conventions of Vienna, will have to take to the entire standardization of the relations and whose time period is almost impossible to calculate because there are still many matters to be solved, accumulated throughout 56 years in which a hostility climate prevailed towards Cuba, which consequences are difficult to erase with a pen.
For now, the principal obstacle to advance towards the full normality of these ties, has repeated the Cuban Government, it is to finish the economic, commercial and financial blockade that is still applied with all rigor and hurts and lacks to our people and makes difficult the economic development of the country.
There are other problems as the return of the American Naval Base in Guantánamo, the cessation of the radial and television transmissions towards our territory that violate the international norms, and on the promotion of internal subversive and destabilizing programs, the abolition of the Cuban Adjustment Act and the compensation to the Cuban people for the damages caused by the aggressive politics of the North American governments in all these years.
Cuba will continue invariably with its ideals of independence, social justice and solidarity with the just causes of the whole world and reaffirms the beginning for which we have fought throughout over five decades, without demobilizing “not even a little”, as would say Che Guevara, because the ideological confrontation between our socialism and the capitalism will not wrap up until the same one disappears like social, political and economic system of this convulsed world.
