CAMAGÜEY.- The pride that defines a city with more than five centuries of history is a constant in the efforts of the Office of the Historian of the city of Camagüey (OHCC). Its summer programming has combined the recreation typical of the summer season with learning and promoting heritage values.

City tours have been the most attractive summer options for enjoying the urban landscape and acquiring knowledge. City of Churches Andarte, Del Verde al Adoquín and Los patios de mi ciudad named the routes carried out, through which it was possible to access the most relevant historical and cultural sites of the demarcation.

The institution developed its traditional summer workshops, which included topics such as models, plastic arts, music, Spanish dance, guitar; together with the Patrimonio Rumba y Punto workshop, the Harlequin workshop, the pet workshop and the one that addressed the ancestral Japanese technique of Bonsai.

The “Communicating Heritage” workshop was especially attractive for boys and girls, as it offered them basic communication tools for locution, photography, editing and production. This space brought children closer to heritage through audiovisual creation, promoting love and care for the city and its history.

Other cultural activities of July and August of the OHCC favored the mixture of art and history in the communities. The day for the sixth anniversary of the José Marín Varona Concert Hall and the 15th anniversary of the declaration of the historic center as Cultural Heritage of Humanity was also held. The exhibition Fish from another city, by Virgilio Loret de Mola, was also inaugurated.

On Saturday the 26th, Maceo Street will once again be the site for socio-cultural ventures and projects, with the Arte Plaza fair for creative industries. In the context of this fair, the closing activity of the summer will take place, which will include the awarding of various contests such as Selfie in my city.

The Historian's Office has given the summer a focus on learning and fun, so that joy is not divorced from love for Camagüey, to promote "the pride that defines us", the slogan of the campaign for the 510th Anniversary of the Villa.
