HAVANA.- With the confirmation today of 52 new positive cases of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, a total of 1,189 people have been infected with the pathogen in Cuba.

790 patients of that total show stable clinical evolution, 40 have died (2 yesterday), two have been evacuated and 341 have been discharged (32 more yesterday); nine are in a critical condition and 7 are in seriously ill.

The 52 new confirmed cases are Cubans; 43 of them are contacts of confirmed cases and in nine cases the source of infection is not identified.
31 (59.6%) out of the 52 new positives were men and 21 (40.4%) were women. 63.4 % (33) of those cases were asymptomatic.

The most affected age groups were those U40 years old with 26 cases (50%), followed by the one of 40 to 60 years old with 20 cases (36%).

As of April 21st, 182 countries have reported presence of COVID-19 with 2.431,890 confirmed cases (+ 76,037) and 169,859 deaths (+ 5,200) for a fatality of 6.98%.

In the Americas region; 934,355 confirmed cases (+ 35,304) are reported (38.4% of the total reported cases in the world); with 49,605 deaths (+ 2,236) for a lethality of 5.31% (+0.05).
