Havana, Dec 25 (Prensa Latina) The Jose Marti International Airport's specialized forces announced this Thursday that they had arrested a passenger from South America who was trying to introduce 37 capsules of liquid cocaine into the country.
With this arrest carried out on December 19, the number of such incidents thwarted by Cuban customs authorities this year totaled 32.
According to the website of the General Customs of the Republic (AGR), the substance was detected following analysis by customs officials of evidence revealed as the passenger moved through the airport facility.
The suspicion was corroborated with the application of the body scanner, which determined the presence of the capsules in its abdominal cavity.
In the note, the AGR ratifies Cuba's Zero Tolerance Policy in confronting drugs, and assures that customs' officers have the capacity, preparation and means to tackle such crimes.
