VIENNA.- The Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas and Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, General Director of the Fund of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for International Development, today signed a Loan Agreement.

As disclosed by the twitter account of the Cuban Embassy in Austria, the agreement will favor the granting of a soft loan of 25 million dollars for the Sanitation and Water Supply Project in the eastern province of Las Tunas, in its second stage.

According to the source, the Cuban vice president expressed the warmest congratulations to the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for its 43 anniversary and highlighted the importance of the new agreement signed with the Caribbean nation.

The Las Tunas project, a territory located more than 650 kilometers east of Havana, as well as those executed with the contribution of OFID in Trinidad, Bayamo, Guantanamo and Palma Soriano, are part of the vast hydraulic program develops in Cuba, considered the Cuban official.

Cabrisas also said that the project includes the execution of works that allow improving the drainage system and sewage treatment of the city, including the construction of two new residual pumping stations, with a minimum nominal capacity of 35 liters per second.

The delegation, chaired by the Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, closed during this day an intense work program, which included official meetings in the multilateral and bilateral field in the Austrian nation, detailed the information.

Previously, Cabrisas made a working visit to Slovakia, a nation in which he held a meeting with entrepreneurs executing projects prioritized in the Caribbean country, according to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex) of Cuba.

During these exchanges, the main topics on the bilateral agenda were reviewed, including cooperation in the energy and health sectors, reported the twitter account of the Center for the Promotion of Mincex.
