CAMAGÜEY. - Cuba has a marked historical peculiarity in April, even some events that happened in this territory have left their stamp in the native chronology. For example, that of the proclamation of the First Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, in Guáimaro, on April 10, 1869, and four days later in the same locality, Ann Betancourt Agramonte proclaimed the emancipation of the woman.
Exactly, inspired in this event, in 1892 José Martí announces the existence of the Cuban Revolutionary Party as the political instrument for the organization of the Necessary War for the definitive independence.
I turn back, not to lose the order of the days, and as it is a custom every April 4th , we celebrate the anniversaries of the Pioneers and the Youth; April 5th of 1966, Fidel and Raúl cut sugar cane in Vertientes.
Earlier, in 1908, the second Yankee military occupation of our countrytakes place, which in my opinion has a hugesignificancefor the Camagüey´s citizensbecause the province´s governor of that time, Manuel Ramón Silva, does not assume the supposed resignation declared by the Yankee inspector Charles Magoon, on having catalogued it of illicit, that´s why he considers, and he letsit know in that way, that he was separated from the charge.
Corresponding to the stage of the war of national liberation, on April 9, 1958 the revolutionary General Strike is summoned against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. The station Radio Camagüey was selected by the direction of the MR-26-7 to support the action, and from there the Invader´s Anthem was transmitted with call to the strike. It is important to recount that among the actions of this territory there also stood out, those of the municipalities of Minas, Santa Cruz del Sur, Florida, Emeralda and Nuevitas.
To the tenth day of the month, I must add that in 1961 the Children´s Kindergartenswere created.

Girón begins its contiguous clash against the Yankee mercenary invasion between April15th and 19th, 1961, which concludes with the first so called big defeat of the imperialism in Latin America, with the peculiarity that on the 16th Fidel proclaims the socialistic character of our Revolution, and it is the date selected for the foundation of the current Communist Party of Cuba. The CamagueyansDagoberto Rojas Montalván (Vertientes) on the 17th, and Rolando Valdivia Fernández (Florida) 19th, offer their lives in respective combats, and later, the 23th, as a consequence of the wounds, Rolando Espinosa López dies (Najasa).
And if we are talking about patriots' birthdays and deaths, we must mention Henry Reeve, the Inglesito (Little Englishman), who was born on April 4th1850, and although he was American, he offered a voluminous and worthy services sheet under the orders of Ignacio Agramonteto the pro-independence exploit, to the point of being considered by Agramonte as the only one capable of replacing him at the head of the forces of Camagüey.
