The rescue of pumping devices and other means used in the irrigation allowed the increase, in a territory with one of the lowest levels of Cuba in being provided with this attention to the plantations, reflects today the digital Provincial Broadcasting Station site.

Many of the devices were stored, and with just suitable maintenance were returned their value of use, as channels and other routes for the irrigation have been cleaned of weeds and obstacles, in order to water the plants.

The principal favored areas are located in the municipalities of Santa Cruz del Sur, Vertientes, Jimaguayú, Esmeralda, Nuevitas, and in the surroundings of the provincial capital.

Camilo Mendoza, peasant with his farm in the outskirts of this city, said that he acquired a system to water his cultivations.

Possessor of one of the biggest areas with conditions to be cultivable in Cuba, Camagüey is one of the provinces of minor surface benefited with the water irrigation in areas dedicated to the food production, with scarcely 13 per cent.
