CAMAGÜEY.- During the week, the province reported 252 positives to COVID-19, of which 39 are imported and the rest are the result of the autochthonous transmission of the disease. This shows the high levels of contagion in the territory.
In recent days, there has also been an increase in the number of cases with a source of infection abroad, mostly people who travel for a few days and return with the virus.
In addition, there were two deaths to mourn, an 89-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, the age group that contributes the most seriously ill patients, so they need greater protection, just like those of pediatric ages.
Contacts of confirmed cases are confirmed as the most vulnerable group; of the total positives for the week, 212 belonged to that segment. The imported ones generated an average of eight contacts, and the autochthonous ones, 12.
On Friday, eleven patients required intensive care, five reported critical, two stable and three unstable, and six presented a state of seriousness. Currently, there are more than 300 Camagüey's residents with active SARS-CoV-2. It also stands out that there are more than 330 children who have had the new coronavirus.
In the last fifteen days, three cases were identified without an apparent source of infection, which are not many but they do set off the alarms, because it could mean a spread of the disease, in addition to the fact that the chain of infections cannot be completed.
The health authorities follow up on the institutional event in areas of the Manuel Ascunce Domenech provincial hospital, amplified by violations of biosafety regulations, where, according to the information published about the meeting of the national temporary group, after 1,358 samples analyzed among patients, companions and workers, 84 have tested positive and there have been seven deaths.
