CAMAGÜEY. -They were the peasants associated with the Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS) Renato Guitart Rosell, of the provincial capital, those of the initiative of donating food to the hospitals Octavio de la Concepción y la Pedraja and Amalia Simoni, institutions that lead the clash to the COVID-19. They were helped in so noble determination, this Friday, the 24th, by other men and women of the countryside of the municipalities of Camagüey, Florida and Minas.

Among all of them added a contribution of approximately 12 quintals of bananas, 10 of mangoes, five of cucumber, seven of green peppers, nine of yucca, two of sweetcorn, eight of tomato, two of guava, five of pumpkin and one of onion; in addition to tomato paste, rice, Creole sauce, cassava, pickles, eggplants, carrots, five lambs, two pigs and 10 hens, which will reinforce the feeding of the workpeople of the Health who fight the epidemic and that of the patients.

Blanca Rosa Pérez Hernández, peasant and the president of “Renato”, told to Adelante that immediately after the beginning of the expansion in the country of the new coronavirus, several peasants proposed to do products collections to deliver disinterestedly to the health centers and to those who confront the pandemic from different positions.

“To the Amalia hospital we have provided with this four donations and we already gave the first one to the Military hospital. The most important thing is that we will continue. It is coordinated by the president of the Area of Defense No. 13 Julio Antonio Mella, to which we belong, and every Monday they will make sure that a transport to move to these or other centers departs from our harvests”.

Camilo Mendoza Caballero delivered with taste bananas and tomatoes that has made grow in the integral fruit trees farm Villa Luisa.

“For me this is something very pretty. All the peasants of the province should join with what they could; although it is small, they are grateful to us for it. It satisfies me to know that the fruit of my work is going to help others. In the current moments our contribution turns out to be very important and we have to sow more, to assure the tomorrow meal”.

Other of the farmers who joined the initiative was Jorge Viera Manso, one of the fundamental props in the different cultivation in this CCS.

“Our cooperative is characterized by gestures like these. We help the one who needs it, not only now, but ever, we donate to maternal hearths, kindergartens, children's house without families support. I contribute what I have in production. Today there are three types of green peppers. From the beginning of the COVID-19 we increase the deliveries because we know how important is that the doctors who work so many hours and on so much risks in these places feed well, as well as the patients and the suspects”.

In his farm The Lake, Omar Orta Socarrás, in addition to harvesting vegetables, he prepares cakes of cassava of yucca, an elaboration that he knows usefully in risk times like the one through that we live.

“With the collaboration of the Agricultural Company Camagüey we install a cassava maker. For five months approximately it is already in functioning. In this occasion I delivered 300 cakes and in previous opportunities we have transferred them also to the Department of the Interior, which so much force has mobilized permanently. This way with this form we help the State, which struggles so much to save the life of the persons”.

Noble gestures of a humble sector, which it has always supported the Revolution, first in the struggle for the freedom and now for supporting what we conquered.
