CAMAGÜEY- Anyone would say that with six million 713 thousand liters of milk above the plan delivered to the Dairy Industry, at the end of July 18, Camagüey’s farmers can sleep peacefully, because at that rate it will not be difficult to reach the 91 million whose goal is this year.
Although this is a truth, the result of many milking in the early morning, it was not of boasting that was spoken during the provincial plenary of the movement of millionaire entities in the collection of milk, carried out recently in the credit and services cooperative (CCS) Pedro Martínez Brito of Vertientes.
That the cows of the "millionaire" cooperatives, considered the best in the territory and possibly in the country, only average 4.52 liters per animal is a red light that alerts on the need to seek greater efficiency in the production of the demanded food. It is urgent then necessary to improve the genetics and the management of the herds, as the experts say that with good specimens and with the food milk is guaranteed.
There are also productive reserves. It shows the 84 entities that fail to meet their commitments. Figure representing 884 thousand liters less. Among them, 12 Base Business Units, 24 Basic Units of Cooperative Production, 17 Agricultural Production Cooperatives and 31 CCS.
“The best results of livestock in the province have to be in this platoon, because the 24 productive bases that are part of the movement contribute 10 million 642 thousand liters, which represents 28% of the territory's commitments. This is a fundamental economic line to replace imports and generate exports for the country and only Camagüey produces 26 percent of the milk of Cuba ”, expressed Aurelio Fumero Sosa, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, who attends the agriculture-food sphere
During the plenary session, the CCS that already reached the third step of the million (750,000) liters were recognized: Battle of Las Guásimas (Vertientes), Evelio Rodríguez (Jimaguayú), José Antonio Echeverría (Camagüey) and Niceto Pérez and in the next few days incorporates the April 4 of Vertientes.
Based on the efficiency indicators from January to June 2019, the CCS Romárico Cordero of Florida was awarded, with first place, Dionisio Riandes de Jimaguayú, with second place, and in the third place, the CCS Reinaldo León Yera de Najasa.
In order to boost efficiency in milk production, the evaluation indicators were modified. From now on they will be measured by: liter of milk per total cow against the industry; birth percent; percent of milk penalty delivered to industry and percent of milking cows against all females and as an additional point to assess compliance with the insemination program.
