Most contagious strain of SARS-CoV 2 detected in Camagüey

May is about to become the month with the highest incidence of COVID-19 in Camagüey. And just in the third week of the year with more reports of positive cases, the presence of the South African strain was known in samples previously sent for this specific analysis that is only carried out at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine. The authorities insist that, although this is more contagious, for any of the variants the measures are the same: physical distancing and increasing hygiene.
Laboratory in Camagüey increases PCR processing

More than 900 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients are processed daily at the Camagüey Molecular Biology Laboratory. After the arrival of new equipment, its workers have managed to double the number of analyzes every 24 hours in just over a week.
