CAMAGÜEY - A well-deserved tribute to Pedro de la Hoz González, a José Martí National Journalism Award winner, who recently deceased, kicked off the Seventh Edition of the Cultural Journalism Colloquium that took place until June 8th in this city.
Yuris Nórido Ruiz, journalist and art critic, said that we have lost a very important referent of Cuban cultural journalism, an example of good work in the daily exercise, one of the most important commentators of the Havana music scene, who moved in all genres.
He also emphasized that his contributions have enriched the theoretical body of popular music such as son and all that it implies, because more than a genre, his musical culture was extraordinary.
He wrote about all the manifestations of art always with a mastery of the singularities of the creative process, a very coherent professional with great wisdom and mastery who collaborated with the formation of many journalists, a very recognized art critic and at the same time simple, he emphasized.
In the theoretical session, during the conference Cultural Journalism and Performing Arts, multiple approaches, Nórido explained that journalism has its own tools to approach the Performing Arts and every approach must have a critical basis if we want specialized journalism to transcend.
It is recommended to be simple, he said, but not straightforward, in the media we must not betray the possibility of analysis, because with the Performing Arts we grow daily.
Referring to the academy, the lecturer explained that it is essential to offer specialized journalism modules because it requires mastery and students need to have experiences, memories, paradigms and nowadays the preparation they receive in cultural matters is not enough.
The workshop Notions on theater criticism, given by theatrologist Isabel Cristina López Hamze, the presentation of books and the discussion session Promotion of projects, lights and shadows were other opportunities for the participants to exchange and learn.
