The Cuban Music Institute confirmed Prensa Latina the death of the singer of country folk classics such as ‘The Punto Cubano’ and ‘Santa Barbara’, better known as ‘Que Viva Shango’. Born on March 16, 1929, Celina rose to fame with Reutilio Domínguez, both committed to the defense of ‘punto guajiro’, guaracha and Afro-Cuban music.

After Domínguez death, the singer kept the duo with their son, Lázaro Reutilio, and remained active until Celina's health prevented her from keeping her career.

For her vast experience in 2002 she was awarded with the National Music Prize, and she represents both the music of Cuban countryside and religious traditions.
