CAMAGÜEY.- With an enrollment of 682 students, the course opened in the territory's three art schools aimed at the elementary and intermediate level, with regional coverage, mainly for central and eastern provinces of Cuba.
The Luis Casas Romero Vocational School of Art (EVA) trains 318 children in the specialties of Music (elementary) and Dance (elementary, intermediate and Art Instructor training). There are students from Ciego de Ávila, Las Tunas and Camagüey, both from the main city as well as other municipalities.
The Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts has 227 students, in the specialties of Ballet (elementary and intermediate), Acting (intermediate), Visual Arts (intermediate) and the training of Art Instructor in Theater and Visual Arts. The people of Camagüey share a classroom with children and adolescents from Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Ciego de Ávila.
In the case of the José White Conservatory of Music, 137 students aspire there to overcome the intermediate level, in 16 lines of instruments, as well as those destined for the profession of Art Instructor in the sound field. They converge from Las Tunas, Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila and Sancti Spíritus.
“Of the 682 students, 430 are female and 252 are male. In addition, we have a complete faculty in general training and hourly contracts to teach the specialties, with a marked incidence of active artists, references of creative processes," María Julia González, deputy director of Artistic Education of the Directorate, told Adelante Digital. The official added that the fourth-year Dance, Ballet and Acting students are undergoing pre-professional practice in the companies and groups of the Performing Arts Council. These teaching units are the Camagüey Ballet, the Folkloric Ballet, the Contemporary Ballet and Teatro del Viento.
