CAMAGÜEY.- The Celebration Days for Japanese culture in Camagüey (Hanami), which is carried out every year by the MangaQ'Ba sociocultural project, will return from the 26th to the 30th of this month, and will be dedicated to the literature of that country.

In a press conference held this Tuesday at the Casa del Joven Creador (Young Creator’s House), of the Camagüey’s branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the organizing committee of the event announced the program of activities and the personalities invited to this eleventh edition.

"We have high expectations, since the Japanese embassy in Cuba has been linked to the project and supported us so that the prominent Japanese writer Hirano Keiichiro could participate," explained Juan Carlos Gil Palomino, leader of MangaQ'Ba.

Mr. Keiichiro, considered one of the best novelists in his country, winner and jury on several occasions of the Akutagawa Prize for Literature, will be presenting his book A Certain Man, and a film by director Ishikawa Kei, based on this work.

The panels "Manga in literature. Form or content?" and "Influence of Japanese culture on current Cuban society" stand out in the extensive program, which also includes lectures, art exhibitions, martial arts exhibitions, and film screenings facilitated by the Japan Foundation.

On Saturday the 29th, the popular Cosplay will take place in the Technological Forest, together with karaoke, dance, knowledge and videogame competitions.

While Sunday will serve for the exchange between the projects promoting Japanese culture from the different participating provinces.

In this edition, the Hanami Festival will also have the support of other institutions in the territory such as the AHS, the New Media Exhibition, Development and Research Circuit, the Provincial Film Center, and the Alley of Miracles project.
