Dedicated in this occasion to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe and to the 30 years of Adalberto Álvarez y su Son band, the Fiesta del Tinajón will kick off on Wednesday in the morning with a parade from the Wedding Palace up to the Caridad Square in charge of the bands of concert of the schools of art, the child-centered project Endedans, the night school of the Ballet of Camagüey, the theatrical company La Andariega, the dance group Arlequín, Rumbatá, the theatrical groups of the city, the artistic group Maraguán, the Folkloric Ballet of Camagüey and the Folkloric Company Camagua, that will mark the beginning of the activities.

The dissimilar offers to the public will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in some cases, and others up to midnight. To the already habitual areas of El Rincón Campesino, and that of the Rumba, the cabaret La Caridad, the areas of the Office of the Historian of the City, of the Fund of Cultural Goods and Artex, CIMEX, that of traditional music, of the bolera and the theatrical one, among many others, joins the newly set up Parque de los Columpios, space destined for the children.

On the proper 12th in the night schedule, the opening gala will be developed in the Principal Theater with the premiere of the work "Rumbeando" by Rumbatá and Camagua, the presentation of pieces of the teacher Adalberto Álvares by the Symphonic Band of Camagüey, the dance group invited Sol Arena, among others proposals.

During the Fiesta del Tinajón a theoretical event will also take place; on Wednesday and Thursday the First Workshop of Camagüeyan Music in the Center of Conventions Santa Cecilia of the Office of the Historian, dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the birthday of the Camagüeyan musician José Marín Varona and to the 95th anniversary of the foundation of the bands of concert of Camagüey and Nuevitas; on Friday, in the head office of the AHS, there will be tackled in the panels topics related to the popular culture like expression of the identity, the popular music and the Camagüeyan groups; and on the 15th, in the same place, the M.Sc. Elda Cento will deliver the lecture “El origen de la villa. Una visión desde la historiografía”.
