CAMAGÜEY.- The Camagüey Provincial Concert Band will be 100 years old next September 19, and, in order to celebrate, has announced an exchange session in this city.

The celebrations will start the day 15 with a parade from the Agramonte Park, their current Sunday concert stage, to the Casino Campestre, where they will share time with their colleagues from other municipalities.

A panel in the Avellaneda theater, the premier of a documentary, homage galas in the Principal theater and a closing concert in the Agramonte Park are scheduled.

Luis Moncada, one of its art directors, remarked in a press conference the qualities of the members of this band conceived to play under any circumstance.

In February this year, the Camagüey Concert Band received the dedication of the Camagüey Culture Week, and performed several times, in special on day 2, right on the 505 anniversary of the foundation of the once Villa de Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe.

Gerardo Vasconcelos, the general director, assured that his group can play different repertoires each Sunday because they count with an archive with more than 300 peaces.

In the Band we have an example of the concert tradition and an artistic project that has brightened the culture of Camagüey, claimed Reinaldo Echemendía, involved in the organization of the centenary session.
