HAVANA.- Just 30 moves of a Sicilian opening were enough for Cuban GM Carlos Albornoz to rejoin the winning path in the 2020 Accentus Young Masters, which already met six of its 10 rounds in the Swiss town of Bad Ragaz.
After losing in the previous round, the current Cuban national champion now beat IM Fabian Banziger and contributed to the victory of the Team World, which now dominates the series with a score of 20-10 over the local squad.
The performance of the Team World also included wins by Italian GM Sabino Brunello and German GM Alexander Donchenko over FM Aurelio Colmenares and IM Gabriel Gahwiler, in that order.
Austrian GM Andreas Diermair drew with local FM Theo Stijve, while Russian GM Nikita Petrov lost to GM Noel Studer, who amounts four points in six rounds and is by far the player with the highest contribution to the hosts.
Today´s program includes the games Colmenares - Albornoz, Bazinger-Petrov, Studer-Donchenko, Gahwiler-Diermair and Stijve-Brunello.
