CAMAGÜEY.- The sports direction in this province propose this Friday before the Baseball National Commission (CNB) a three-month sanction for the pitcher from the Bulls of the Plains Dariel Góngora de la Torre because of his consecutive indiscipline during the 59th  Baseball National Series.

A note from the provincial direction of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and recreation (Inder) specifies that the disqualification of the athlete to participate in national events is due to the “systematic intake of alcoholic beverages has caused unjustified absences to the hotel and disrespectful behavior toward his teammates and the direction of the team”.

Talking to Mario Núñez Caballero, highest authority of the Inder in Camagüey, Adelante Digital learned that they had already exhausted all the prophylactic measures with Góngora, who had even signed a warning act because of a fault committed in the province Santiago de Cuba.

According to the rules of the Series, this is a very serious indiscipline, so the measure they intend to apply is only a minimum one. After it becomes official, the athlete or the Inder direction can appeal to the CNB.

If the penalty is approved, “The Whip”, as he is known, will miss the remaining championship. This is a key discharge for Miguel Borroto’s team in its hopes to discuss the crown of the Cuban baseball, since he is the only left-handed pitcher in the staff and has won eight victories till the moment.

The case is so important that, when the news that Dariel was not in the bench of the Bulls because of indiscipline was known unofficially, the Camagüeyan fans mobilized in social media to ask that the measure will cause the least damage to their aspirations on winning.

As a similar procedure, we can quote the case of the infielder from Las Tunas Yordanis Alarcón in the previous tournament, that impede him from enjoying the title earned by his team. This year, the case that draw the most attention of the media was the case of the slugger Lisbán Correa from the capital, who was admonished for participating in an altercation with players from Holguín and whose penalty was reduced a few days ago to only six months.

Now, all we can do is wait for the decision of the ruling institution in Cuban baseball and that the sportsman follow it with good behavior, since his chances for a possible reduction of the separation period and his possible reincorporation to the Camagüeyan cast to the end of the Series will depend on his conduct. Adelante Digital will follow up on this subject.
