The Camagüey's Contemporary Ballet opened the month of August with the visit of Eric Rivera, Puerto Rican choreographer and associate professor of dance at Virginia Commonwealth University, in his second collaboration with the company.
In 2019 he staged the work Por el tiempo, with the then prima ballerina and current director of the institution, Lisandra Gómez de la Torre, an admirer of the work of that maestro, which she finds attractive and dynamic.
Rivera returns accompanied by his assistant and his student Sophia Berger, who is part of the workshops and contributes to the process of creating the new piece to premiere in September at the city's Principal Theater.
With the choreographic proposal, he intends to include most of the cast, with the use of contemporary ballet as the main style exposed to the freedom of creation, commented Gómez de la Torre.
“Her creations of hers are characterized by movements of skirts that captivate both the viewer and each of the dancers, with the expectation of what is taking place these days,” she added.
The director explained that this collaboration allows opening new paths for the group. Its members are immersed in rigorous master classes for this creative process that runs until August 12th.
