Almost three hours lasted the parade of the people of Camagüey in which some 150,000 workers from the 15 unions paraded through the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.

In the declarations at the closing of the event, Federico Hernández Hernández, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the territory, congratulated the participation of the people of Camagüey "we can assure that we comply with the direction of the country when we affirm that the parade was going to be the cavalry of Agramonte multiplied and today we prove it. It is a victory for the Revolution and the Homeland and we have demonstrated the strength of the Revolution in the unity of all. The only alternative for us is victory, that of the people around their Party”.

For his part, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di Lella, deputy prime minister, considered the parade a resounding victory for the people of Camagüey with an important presence of young people from different sectors of society.

"The people have demonstrated today, they have ratified that they are there despite all the subversive speeches that try to fracture the Revolution. Today we workers also celebrate the collective triumph over the pandemic, especially the efforts of scientists and doctors. Despite the difficulties, the only path left to us is victory."

The Civil Defense Union is closing in #Camagüey the #primerodeMayo #CubaLiveYWork parade

At 28 years old, Dennis Giraldo Pouza, a specialist in Intensive Care at the Amalia Simoni Hospital in Camagüey, is very clear about his convictions and his loyalty to revolutionary principles.

"Being present today is showing our president Miguel Díaz-Canel that the youth supports him in whatever is necessary and that he was not wrong when he gave us a vote of confidence. We are continuity!"

After the passage of the Culture union through the Plaza, workers from Transportation, Food, Agriculture, and Construction paraded. Next paraded Trade sector.

We found Taimari March Álvarez and Ismari Álvarez Agüero in the first rows next to the Cuban flag. The first, a fourth-year law student, the second, his mother, a worker for the Provincial Committee of the PCC.

"We came to reaffirm our support for the leaders of the country and to demonstrate that they can count on Cuban families. At home, love for the Homeland must also be sown and to be taught to value the achievements of the Revolution. We spent a long time without meeting here in the Plaza but our commitment never ceased," said Ismari.

A student at the Álvaro Morell Álvarez Pre-University Institute, the young Laura María González Otaño parades every first of May with her grandfather or with her mother. Although it is a few years before she joins the working world, she shares with them the love for the country and she sees in this concentration another way to show it.

"I feel Cuba is alive, full of energy after several months of confinement due to COVID and I want to shout it out to the world. We are capable of innovating, moving forward despite the blockade. I feel that we must multiply our example and without a doubt you can count with the students."

Eriel Molina Jaime was one of the first to arrive at the Square. Being young and belonging to the Health sector, two of the groups recognized on this occasion, excite him a lot.

"After two very complicated years with the pandemic, we parade again, to show everyone our unity and revolutionary conviction. This march is important, especially at a time when media pressure is strong and measures against the country are intensifying. We must have the ideas clear and seeing first-hand the support of the people is essential.

THOSE WHO WORK ON THE FIRST OF MAY IN THE SQUARE

The May 1st parade summons, always summons, thousands of people, an element that requires the design of a program of basic services that facilitate the successful participation of the working class.

Health is one of the main priorities, and it is usual to disaggregate care points that facilitate care in the event of any possible emergency medical contingency.

At one of these points, enabled several hours before the start of the festival, Dr. Jessica Quiñones Sánchez, a worker at the Ignacio Agramonte polyclinic, pays attention along with another team of professionals from the same center.

“It is my first time in an event of this type as a professional, and it is a very good experience, an opportunity to be together with thousands of compatriots on such a special occasion for all of us."

In one of the surrounding areas of the Plaza de la Revolución Ignacio Agramonte, the main stage of the proletarian act, temporary facilities are erected for the sale of various foods.

One of the entities convened is the República Gastronomic Complex, whose administrator Randy Almuedo recognized that his small collective set up its provisional kiosk from the previous day, in order to have the conditions ready for a rapid provision to the population.

"We have a varied offer of both light foods and meals, including alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, wine and sweets for the little ones."

Osnel Conde Rodríguez is a longtime participant in the great workers' festival. For this representative of the aqueduct system of the municipality of Camagüey, his task is to guarantee drinking water to those attending the event.

“Going back to this work typical of each May 1st, has been a great satisfaction for us. It was two years without seeing people parade, old friends. I'm really very happy."

And it is that May 1st is just that, a conjunction of quotas of responsibility of many, who contribute, from their various areas, to the success of an event that is a platform to support the process that has been designed on the Island since 1959, despite the imperial winds.

At that moment, the Energy and Mines and Hospitality and Tourism unions had already passed through the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz. Education workers were parading at the time.

The May Day parade began in Camagüey to celebrate what has been achieved, especially the control of the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to Cuban science and health. This is an appointment to call for greater efforts in the construction of a better Cuba.

The May 1st parade began in this city, with the participation of thousands of workers, with the express desire to demonstrate their unrestricted support for the social process that we have embraced since 1959, despite a US blockade sustained for more than six decades.

In his central speech, Yulián León Rondón, general secretary of the CTC in the province, said that we have plenty of motivation to continue carrying out the Revolution, inspired by the example of our heroes Fidel, Raúl and Miguel Díaz-Canel.

"Our young people are also important. With the enthusiasm and desire to show that they are continuity, they turned each task into their Moncada, into their Girón. We know that we can always count on them."

In his speech, León Rondón urged to work with discipline, to contribute to import substitution, to support the economic measures designed at the national level and to contribute more efficiently to food production.

"These are not easy times but we know what we have to do because we are guided by heroes, martyrs, history. We have the courage of the jungle and the legacy of Fidel. Nothing can fail," he concluded.

Jorge Luis Perdomo Di Lella, deputy prime minister, participates in the act, together with the main authorities of the Party, the Government, the CTC and political and mass organizations of the province.
