CAMAGÜEY.- The neighbors in the block where Justina lives, on Lugareño Street, between Bayardo Agramonte and San José, waited till down to surprise her by being the first to congratulate her on her 105th birthday yesterday September 26th.

“Tina” is the nickname of this good mannered woman, short and excellent communicator, quality joined by a naughty smile not only when the occasion deserves it, but also the rest of the time, which she spends talking to Oneida Villareal Tamayo, who takes care of her at full time, or with any other person that lives around her home.

Before starting the conversation in one of the spaces of her living room, without sordid luxuries, reflecting her modesty and humbleness, she humorously asked: Why don’t you take out a few years?

Those people coming through the place in the afternoon hours have had the chance to see her standing, upright, at the door or a few steps rather close to San José talking to the couple in the corner or with the little girl that has grown so close to her.

The coherence of her thoughts is something that proves that her mind is still clear. Excepting an almost imperceptible deafness, no one would think that Justina Nolla Domínguez embraced the age of 105 and hopes, if there is no setback, to live a few years longer to share with her only grandson and his progenies.

People were exited about throwing her a little party with her family; someone thought about buying a cake; another person thought about bringing a beer for her to try it, in brief, it is a joy that every Cuban shares to have her like that, with the spirit to live and to cheer life for everybody else.
