Doctor Ramon Perez, an expert with the Cuban Meteorology Institute and researcher of the El Niño natural phenomena said that the complex process of oceanic-atmospheric interaction made 2015 the warmest year in Cuba since 1951, while the November-December period brought more rain than usual particularly in western and central Cuba.

According to the expert the El Niño phenomenon is expected to keep strong till February to later gradually decline its effects. But, once it has strengthened it led to temporary changes in atmospheric circulation, which can generate regional climatic variations that will last long, and this includes Cuba.
