During its last presentations, in the XXIInd International Festival of Folklore “Tarascón Latino“, in France, the group was applauded by over 2 300 spectators that came to see Suite Cubana, spectacle shaped by fragments of other works.

As informed to the press, via e-mail, Agustín Martínez de Santelices, in charge of public relations of the set, the acceptance of the public was so big that they asked for a second number granted by the artists with the mythical “Guajira guantanamera”.

In this event, each of five invited countries -East Timor, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba and Mexico- had one night to exhibit the best of their cultural traditions.

Alain Sutra, President of the Association of Festivals of the South, entity that invited Camagua to the tour, and mayor of the French city of Tarascón, hailed the high professionalism and artistic quality of the Camagüeyan group.

The program of the tour includes another two festivals before wraping up at the end of this month, one in the proper France and another in Spain, where they were already in Bilbao and in Burgos, and will close the tour in Huesca, Aragon.

The Camagua stagings agglutinate the local dance expressions of Cuba, with urban popular rhythms like the danzón, the mambo, the rumba, the guaracha, the guaguancó, among others.

Also they gather Caribbean and European influences, according to the site of the group in Internet.

They have acted in tens cities of Europe and America in folk festivals where they have obtained several awards as the silver and golden medals in 2007 and 2003, respectively, of the International Contest of Dijon, France, considered to be a classic among the contests of folk dance and music in the world.
