Created by the also Camagüeyans Alfonso Zequeira Motolongo (deceased initiator of the work) and the M.Sc. Alberto Alvariño Atiénzar, the book gathers, textual and graphic testimonies that present the simple man in his human dimensions, from the loving father and husband, union leader, faithful friend, and consecrated revolutionary fighter.

In the prologue of the Maximum Leader of the Cuban Revolution, written on March 28th, 2015, it is highlighted that the founder of the 26 de Julio Revolutionary Movement in this province was appearing like “… a consistent student and preacher of the thought of José Martí, made his own the postulate that the real man does not look in what side one lives better, but in what side is the duty. He was deserving this work”.

There pointed out Fidel that since his first meet with this combatant perceived in him a man with solid political education, committed with the struggle, recognized by his trade union leadership in the bank sector and like organizer in the logistic support to the Rebellious Army, whose lines also he was integrating under the orders of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, who on having spoken in this city on May 1st, 1959 express: "Thanks to him, the column Antonio Maceo managed to come up to the Rio San Pedro … he went out with us from the Sierra Maestra. Every day he was going out to explore, was going out to look for food, since he was one of few men who knew the area".

With the presence of his son -of equal name- grandchildren, partners of work and of struggle, in the crowded ceremony, the proper Alvariño exhibited his satisfaction on having fulfilled the commitment contracted with Zequeira, with Alfredito (this way the martyr is also known) who he knew throughout the year 1957 and the first months of ´58, and especially, with the Camagüeyans, for the legacy that now he can put in our hands, simultaneously he recognized everything what has been published, and the same way he expressed gratitude to the principal authorities of the province, including the Provincial Court, and to partners of struggle who supported him in the shape of the book.

Last Saturday was also presented the book in the Provincial Museum Ignacio Agramonte, and today at 9:00 a.m. in the Preuniversity Institute Álvaro Morell Álvarez, and later in the Camagüey´s University Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.
