CAMAGÜEY.- The University of Camagüey (UC) Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz extends scientific and academic collaboration with homologous institutions in the Eurasian region, based on the recent conclusion of new agreements.
During the last week, the UC and the GLA University, located in the Indian city of Mathura, materialized for the first time a Cooperation Framework Agreement that will favor exchanges between professors, students, and researchers.
Yailé Caballero Mota, director of International Relations at the Camagüey academic institution, assured that the document contemplates joint tasks for five years, and will cover the areas of Technical and Basic Sciences.
The initial steps were carried out virtually, and a videoconference with the Indian counterpart is scheduled soon, added Caballero Mota.
GLA University is a private university that belongs to Mathura, a historic city in the Asian country located south of New Delhi, and 50 kilometers north of Agra, where the Taj Mahal is located.
Also, the Camagüey's university, the first founded in Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution, held a videoconference last June with professors and directors of the University of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
After the presentation of both academies, the foreign party showed interest in developing joint research and actions related to the teaching of the Russian language, she pointed out.
Currently, she said, they are preparing the process of signing the collaboration agreement and the formalization of the exchange actions.
In addition to the aforementioned Russian university, the Cuban Center for Higher Education has alliances with the State University of the South and the Chemical Technology University D.I. Mendeleev of Moscow.
UC's links were recently extended to the University of Turku and the University of Tampere in Finland as well.
To date, the Camagüey's house of higher studies has 169 agreements signed in 26 countries of the world.
