CAMAGÜEY.- Nine awards from the Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) received the University of Camagüey (UC) Ignacio Agramonte in recognition of its scientific work during 2020. Even with a pandemic, the center's teachers sought ways not to stop the investigations and contribute to the development of the various spheres of society.

On this occasion, the UC stood out as the main executing entity in five studies, the same number of professionals from the institution who obtained the award as main authors.

In the Technical Sciences section, the work of PhD. Yailé Caballero Mota was awarded for "Data pre-processing methods for collaborative filtering recommender systems" and PhD. Ricardo del Risco Alfonso for the work called " Determination of technological indicators and cutting parameters in high-speed machining in steels by experimental methods, numerical simulation and artificial intelligence ”.

In the case of Social and Humanistic Sciences, three were the best at the national level: PhD. Adela García Yero, with "Historical-cultural investigations of the General Cemetery of Camagüey"; PhD. Ángel Luis Gómez Cardoso who presented the topic "Interprofessional education in the treatment of disabilities" and PhD. Evelio F. Machado Ramírez, who addressed the "Theoretical and practical contribution to scientific-professional training of university students and teachers ”.

The list of awards was completed with recognitions to collaborators, professors and authors who, with their daily perseverance, stimulate scientific creation inside and outside the house of higher studies in Camagüey.

The nine awards of the province are part of the fifteen that in total received the Camagüey-Ciego de Ávila Branch of the ACC. Just over a year after it was founded and made up of 17 members and 65 guests, the subsidiary stands out in the country in its doctoral training and in publications in high-level electronic scientific journals, among other aspects.

According to Caballero Mota, titular member of the ACC, “the 15 awards and the one for Technological Innovation that this Subsidiary also deserved are a sign of the advancement of science and innovation in our territories in different areas of knowledge, with important contributions to the Cuban socio-economic development. So we are very proud of our researchers and more committed to the country ”.
