CAMAGÜEY. - Several of the hotel facilities of the Islazul Chain, located in this city, received recognition from the Workers' Central of Cuba (CTC) by virtue of the work carried out during these months of confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The highest leadership of the labor movement in the province extended the Plaque "Abanderados del Amor y la Esperanza" to the Isla de la Cuba, Plaza and Puerto Príncipe hotels, whose groups have maintained high professionalism in care, both to medical personnel and to works in the so-called red zone, as well as international travelers not based in the country.

On the Island of Cuba, its director, Marlies Pestana Hernández, expressed how much it implies for everyone to have received this new stimulus, since as a rest center for the doctors of the Amalia Simoni hospital, they have treated more than 700 physical clients in this period, a matter which means a great effort to maintain high standards in services.

"It has been an important and difficult test, and we have managed, with strict compliance with the established norms, that no worker was infected, the result of a previous preparation that allowed us to adapt the care without losing quality of the daily services".

This center, in addition, is endorsed with the Most Hygienic and Safe certificate, "it showed the human quality that distinguishes them, the high commitment to the mission that they now assume, were sufficient reasons to receive this moral distinction", said Yulián León Rondón, secretary General of the CTC in Camagüey.

Several years ago, patients who came to receive care as part of the so-called Miracle Mission, a Cuban-Venezuelan agreement destined to perform surgical interventions on people with varying degrees of visual limitations due to effects that can be solved, were housed there.

During the current stage, the Plaza, an emblematic establishment in the city, has welcomed international travelers not residing in the country, and the surveys highlight high levels of acceptance with the service provided.

Merlin Viviana Álvarez González, the young director, commented that since last February 6 they readjusted the type of client entry, all of which required modifying the usual routine, since with the new modality, the user remains hospitalized in the room, with a high comfort, waiting for PCR test results.

"That, she pointed out, forces us to take extreme not only the type of service to be provided, but also a stricter follow-up, in order to make the stay more pleasant, especially because it is complicated, but necessary, to stay in the room for days without having contact with the outside, until there is no guarantee of negativity ".

The general secretary of the Provincial Union of Hospitality and Tourism Workers, Leonardo Álvarez Leiva, said that there were never doubts about the avant-garde that exists in this group, and urged them to continue taking on new challenges with the same will as always.

The Port-au-Prince is, without a doubt, Islazul's obligatory reference in the confrontation with the new coronavirus. Since March 18, 2020, a few days after the first cases were detected in the country, this compound has housed foreigners stranded in the country due to the rapid closures of airports in the world.

Now, months later, they receive for 14 days the health personnel of the Octavio de la Concepción military hospital, who arrive after fulfilling their duties in the red area, that is, the one where positive cases of Sars CoV-2 remain admitted, and there they wait for the indicated protocols before returning to their family.

Twelve other centers have become creditors of the Plaque, which will be delivered gradually as part of the activities prior to May 1st, International Workers' Day, and which, given the current health emergency, forces it to be carried out virtually.

However, the adornment and beautification of the work centers has been called, as an alternative to the impossibility of carrying out the traditional parades and celebrations of such a significant anniversary.
