CAMAGÜEY.- The 178 anniversary of the birth of the Major General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, in this province, meant a new opportunity for the people of Camagüey to relive the memories of this warrior that fought for the independence of his homeland and to honor his example as a lawyer and defender, at any cost, of justice, with a gala as a tribute to the prosecutors and lawyers in the territory.
In front of his home, where, on December 23, 1841, was received the joy of his birth, children, students, workers and members of several institutions gathered to meet the history of that mambí. In the symbolic space, It was pointed out his sense of duty, courage and greatness that made him carry out huge feats that left a legacy for his country.
“He taught us the supreme effort of not leaving behind a companion of the battlefield, the pride and decision of fighting for noble causes”, expressed the president of the Union of Cuban Historians, local branch, Ricardo Muñoz Gutiérrez.
On that same spot, the prime secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the municipality, Daniel Fuentes Milanés, pointed out the importance of learning the History of Cuba as “a inexhaustible source of sacrifices, that will help us understand our roots and will serve as a fundamental weapon to face tha threats and limitations set by the American administration. With this spirit we have developed in the province the community project We are Continuity, intended to solve the problems in the most distant locations”
After placing a floral tribute in the Agramonte Park, in the name of the people of Camagüey, at the Principal Theater was effected a gala dedicated to the prosecutors and lawyers, in charge of validating their work, with professionalism, with the same essences of the integrity of the Major.
During the acts, prosecutors and workers were acknowledged with the seal for the service to the prosecution and, on its part, the Popular Supreme Court pondered also the work of its professionals with the delivery of distinctions for 35, 30, 25, 15 and 10 years of work. They also awarded the children that won the contest 46 anniversary of the Popular Courts in the categories of painting, literature and also stimulated those who reached a mention.
The Young Communist League (UJC), the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the Humanities and Laws Department of the Polytechnic Álvaro Barba Machado and the University Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz joined in the tribute to the lawyers. Also, the prize Alma Máter was granted to the Prosecution and the Provincial Court in this region.
To close the gala, the Prime Secretary of the Party in the territory, Ariel Santana Santiesteban, referred to the elevated office performed by the people there as “fundamental, because they are in charge of applying law and provide the necessary knowledge to the people in the new constitutional way” and urged them to build socialism as a viable option for the Cuban Revolution and humanity.
