CAMAGÜEY.- A strong impact received the housing fund of the capital of Camagüey, when in September 2017 the Hurricane Irma pawned its trajectory on the north coast of the territory. This accentuated the deterioration of hundreds of homes already marked in a negative way for years of use without proper maintenance.
The Government’s intention of an early recovery, 15 months after the meteorological phenomenon, does not show the results expected by all, without adding to the needs that each day is combined with families who seek to coexist in the best possible conditions.
If to seek culprits were to be addressed to many sectors could point the accusing fingers, from the lack of materials, the lack of labor, violations of the beneficiaries and even lack of management of those who should direct the path the Materialization of buildings.
Subsidies, credits, temporary facilities, change in the use of real estate and other variants were insufficient to comply with the provisions of this timetable, which adds to the lack of control.
It is great the challenge that today have the Camagüey´s inhabitants, only in the Camagüey municipality must be erected in 2019 more than 700 houses. Add, subtract, divide and multiply and you will see that you work at a rate of almost two works per day, a project that has never materialized in this land.
It is then up to the whole society to have a visualized of that goal to take it to the highest possible execution; it is also necessary to take into account the benefit that will generate to other programs such as that of stimulation of the birth or the attention to the elderly.
The housing situation was one of the issues enunciated by the Commander-in-chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in his plea of self-defense for the attack on Moncada barracks, among the priorities of the revolutionary government. Since then much improved the urbanization of the nation, but more must be done to fulfill a constant commitment to the people.
Thus we will live the year of the 60 anniversary of the triumph of January 1st, 1959, working to improve the living conditions of citizens, in the midst of a complex economic context, which will demand greater efforts and that must also bring great benefits.
