CAMAGÜEY.- .- Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), visited the Military Industrial Company of Camagüey Major General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, founded almost 30 years ago by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
In exchange with the directors of the company in Camagüey and the Union of Military Industries (UIM), prior to the tour of the facilities, last Wednesday, Raúl learned about the productions that are made to meet the demands of the defense of the country and, fundamentally, of the national economy.
Among other issues was informed about the programs that are undertaken for the manufacture, repair and modernization of machines and tools, the production and recovery of spare parts, as well as the expansion of capacities to produce containers and packaging, which are all issues of high priority for Cuba.
In particular, he was interested in the support that the UIM has provided to the recovery after hurricane Irma last September. According to MET, since then and to date, has been earmarked for this purpose more than a 550 million square meters of metal tiles - with all its accessories 400- and 25 plastic tanks.
After learning about the work of the Military Industrial Company of Camagüey, which in the last few years meets its economic indicators, financial and productive, the General of the Army as a jewel that is able to give greater results.
Sample of this endeavor could appreciate it directly in an exhibition where are grouped its main productions, including a line of furniture for offices, homes and tourist centers, melamine dinnerware, hardware, industrial, padlocks and locks, beds and mattresses, wooden doors, awnings and Texas.
Raul toured later workshops in some of the factories that brings together the company, accompanied by the first vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the holder of the Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz; the General Army Corps Leopoldo Cintra Frias and Alvaro Lopez Miera, minister and deputy minister first chief of the General Staff of the FAR, respectively; the Minister of the Interior, Vice Admiral Julio Cesar Gandarilla Bermejo; and the First Secretary of the PCC in Camagüey, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca.
In the visit dialog with workers of the entity, 32% of whom are women.
