CAMAGÜEY — The 30th National Workshop on Film Criticism, scheduled to take place from May 28th to 31st, 2026, in Camagüey, has officially announced the call for submissions for the 13th edition of the National Prize for Film Criticism and Research.
Held as part of the celebrations marking the workshop’s 34th anniversary, the event is organized in coordination with the Provincial Book Center, the Cinemateca de Cuba, and the Ministry of Culture of Cuba.
The competition is open to Cuban film critics and researchers residing in the country and includes two categories: Film Criticism — including collections of critical reviews — and Film Research.
Organizers stated that submissions may address any topic and must be previously unpublished and not under consideration by any publishing house. Entries should be submitted digitally, typed double-spaced, and under a pseudonym. A separate file must include the author’s personal information, including full name, national ID number, home address, and workplace.
Works must be between 30 and 50 pages in length, formatted in 12-point Times New Roman with 26 lines per page.
The submission deadline is May 20th, 2026. Winners will be announced during the sessions of the 30th National Workshop on Film Criticism.

The competition will award one prize in each category, consisting of 15,000 Cuban pesos, along with publication of the winning manuscripts by Ácana, subject to the publisher’s production capacity.
The jury will be made up of distinguished figures from Cuban culture, and its decision will be final.
