CAMAGÜEY.- Jornadas ArteCómic, a regular event during the summer in this city, has changed seasons, and starting with the 14th edition scheduled for February 28th to March 2nd, it will explore the new cycle with the desire to vindicate the ninth art.

The event maintains the sponsorship of the Provincial Council of the Plastic Arts (CPAP) of Camagüey and its scheme of conferences, workshops, screenings and spaces for the confluence of experts and beginners, creators and the public.

“Bringing it to the month of February allows us to be closer to the Book Fair, which was one of our purposes, both to the capital and the provincial headquarters, and also due to logistical connections with community factors and cultural institutions,” the founder Alfredo Fuentes, told the press.

The opening will be on Wednesday the 28th at 9:00 a.m. at the Nuevo Mundo Audiovisual Complex, also home to the tribute to Juan Padrón (1947-2020) and a film series of Cuban animation and superhero films.

Among the guests will be the artists Alexander Izquierdo (leader of the Kronikas project, promoting heritage) and Haziel Scull (director of the Vitrina de Wallonia Museum of the Havana Historian's Office); and the art historian Eyder Garbey, specialist at the Cultural Workshop of Santiago de Cuba.

Jornadas ArteCómic 2024 will propose a scriptwriting and visual narrative workshop, led by Niurki Pérez and Ledis Sanregré, recently recognized with a mention in the national contest The Golden Age.

Another attraction will be the 9th Project Factory. Art, day 2 at the Encanto cinema, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., which will include the Wargames Cuba Event, the promotion of video games and a manga copy party with MangaQba.

Juan Carlos Mejías, president of the CPAP, highlighted from Jornadas ArteCómic “the infinite possibilities of the event to develop and to give participation to different groups.”
