CAMAGÜEY.- El Guiñol de Camagüey premiered The Prince and the Sea, to give joy to children and the family in general at the beginning of a season at its headquarters during July and August.
The work explores the game and the mystery of a house that can be a castle, an amusement park or a ship. It uses traditional techniques and incorporates audiovisuals, among other elements and nods to the contemporary viewer.
“The white one, with gold bridles, was my favorite horse. Grandfather, from the shadow of the framboyan tree, said goodbye to us: Hold on tight, Mariano, and come back soon. Goodbye, grandfather. One turn and another turn, to always find Grandpa's smile and hand in the air. I had so much fun…”, recalls the boy.
Its protagonist is a little sick person (Lianet Zaldúa). Develops the conflict of parental overprotection (Evelyn Echazábal and Junior Vergara) Enhances the figure of the grandmother (Marlene Aguilar)
Master Mario Guerrero worked on the original text of the playwright Eddy Díaz Souza shortly before he died. He was preparing the show for Teatro de Luz, under the direction of Jesús Vidal Rueda Infante, who updated the production.
Due to the beauty of the costumes, the scenery, the dolls and the imaginary space inside a castle, recreated by the designer Mauricio Álvarez, it brings back the idea of the characteristic super productions of the Guiñol.
The 61-year-old company will offer the performances of El príncipe y el mar (The Prince and the Sea) Fridays and Saturdays starting at 5:00 p.m., and Sundays starting at 10:00 a.m., in the theater located at Lugareño Street No. 152 on the corner of Saint Clement.
