CAMAGÜEY.- The dance expert Ismael Albelo said that the main challenge for this srt expression is in the dramaturgical sense of the choreographer and in the ability to stimulate the best conditions in the dancers.

“A choreography is not to put music in a class. It is dramaturgy”, claimed at the video room Nuevo Mundo, in the opening lecture of the first Choreography Contest Fernando Alonso In Memoriam, scheduled up to December 7.

The doctor in science of arts explained the evolution of this corporeal expression with examples from the XIX, XX and XXI century, referred to space, clothing and body on the bases of artistic intentionality, scenic impulses and paratext.

“Today movement is expressed in its full dimension. The virtues of movement is the quality of movement” emphasized besides underlining the importance of researching and generating a creative teaching that encourages to think from early ages.

Albeblo pointed out the possibilities of digital technologies and other resources such as video, although the country does not have mobile stages, nor can always accomplish the scenography made only with illumination, according to the world trends.

“I do not say we copy. It is bad to copy, but we have to approach what is being done in the world. Cubans are extremely creative. The most interesting movement in dance in Cuba is taking place in folkloric groups”, stressed.

Along with Elsa Avilés, Reinaldo Echemendía, José Antonio Chávez and Freddys Núñez, Ismael Albelo will evaluate as jury over 30 works presented for the contest, scheduled for December 4, 5 and 6 at the Principal Theater, from 8:30 p.m.
