CAMAGÜEY.- To pay a contemporary tribute to the Bárbaro del Ritmo, beyond his well known natural-born qualities for musical composition, the Encouragement Project for Audiovisual Culture El Callejón de los Milagrosinvites to the cyber-gathering Benny Moré: a voice, a thousand images, on Thursday, October 10 at 5:00 p.m.
The attending audience and the guests Wilmer Ferrán (director of the group Rumbatá), Heidy Cepero (musicologist), and Eugenio Riverón (writer and vinyl record collector) will dialogue in the Audiovisual Complex Nuevo Mundo (calle de los cines), from an initiative that promises a rich exchange, far form academic formalisms.
That was the announcement for Adelante Digital made by the coordinator of the Project El Callejón…, Juan Antonio García Borrero, who also “draw” while talking to this website, the stage for the activity that will immediately follow the cyber-gathering. It is a new exposition in the Gallery QR in “Nuevo Mundo”.
The exhibition will include covers of some of el Benny’s albums, which will count with added value thanks to the insertion in them of QR codes – as it is a tradition in this space Cinema Themed Boulevard in Camagüey— which will be scanned by the users connected to the apk El Callejón de los Milagros through the free WiFi there is in that place, to then access (consume, download) songs in mp3 format.
Besides, both in the app for mobile devices as in the digital portal El Callejón…, people will have the possibility to provide contents, through their comments in two web sites that are hoped to become useful repositories for the production, consumption and interaction.
In the new exposition of the gallery QR we will also enjoy audiovisual materials, that will be projected through electronic screens located there; printed books and cassettes, thanks to the funds of the Provincial Library Julio Antonio Mella; and music in the record player of the collector Eugenio Riverón: “everything related to the universe of the Benny”, according to García Borrero.
The greatest purpose of the project El Callejón de los Milagros is to overturn the borders between the different supports, bringing them together in a place where the community of people of Camagüey can find cultural alternatives, coming from the institutional system, from the creative use of digital technologies — thought to work for the individual and not the way around —, as is described by García Borrero in his text El suicidio de la sabiduría (The suicide of wisdom), published in 2017 by the Publisher Ácana.
