CAMAGÜEY.- More than 1300 weekly capacities are offered at reasonable prices in recreational spaces from the company Artex for young people thrughout the province. The agreement signed between these centers and the Communist Youth League (UJC) aims to ensure attractive proposals beyond the months of July and August.

According to consensus that has existed for more than two years, Reynaldo Hernández Polo, manager of the Artex cultural centers explains that the benefited ones only have to pay 10 pesos -national currency- for entrance. And inside they can purchase beverage modules ranging from 70 and 90 Cuban pesos.

“Places where, at present, provide such services in the city are El Alkázar, El Caribe, La Trova and Fotograma, whereas in Nuevitas we have La rosa náutica y Mar verde in Santa Lucía”, Reynaldo said. They are joined by other centers like the Recinto Ferial and the Bar Casablanca, that although are not part of Artex, they also support in this respect.

The idea was a product of the leisure needs of adolescents and their short reach to the planned facilities with those purposes within the territory.

“That is always an oft-stated approach in each school or workplace. We know the reality of salaries in Cuba and we decided to find alternatives that could be affordable to everyone”, Meilin Acosta Fernández, head of the ideological department of the UJC in the province said.

The directive clarifies that in order to gain access to the offers, the person should contact the secretary of his Basic Committee and this one, on its turn, should request the capacities to the UJC from the territory.

One of the youngsters who has enjoyed, in more than one occasion, the above-mentioned alternatives is Julio César Montes de Oca, a 3rd year Tourism student from the University of Camagüey. He, in spite of being thoroughly familiar with the benefits, makes clear what needs to work on.

“I think a bit of communication has been lacking. We would be very grateful if there was more use of technologies to be noticed because it cannot only be informed through official media. Sometimes we have these opportunities at hand and we do not make use of them for lack of advertisement”, Montes de Oca added.

The challenge now, in addition to preserve it, is to extend that type of agreements with other companies from Camagüey. To make an intelligent use of the reanimation process of some cultural facilities from the territory, can be used to create new initiatives for the enjoyment of the young.
