CAMAGÜEY.- Over 90 works will compete for the Grand Prize Luces de la Ciudad, and for the other awards of the 29th edition of El Almacén de la Imagen, scheduled for October 23 to 27 in the city of Camagüey.

There is a predominance of short films, and according to the number, followed in that order by documentaries, fiction works, promotional videos and lastly, animated videos, as pointed out the Organizing Committee for the press.

There is representation of 10 provinces – Guantánamo, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus, Cienfuegos, Mayabeque, Havana–, and the special municipality Isla de la Juventud.

The International Film and TV School in San Antonio de los Baños brings in a sample of filmmakers from Brazil, Greece, Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, Spain, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, France, Lebanon, Ecuador and the United States.

There will be no lack of proposals from Televisión Serrana, the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication Media of Havana, and from the branches of the Arts University in Holguín and Camagüey.

Also, young people from the mid-Eastern part of the country will trial for the funding of the pitching La Imagen del Almacén for fiction and animation projects, which is sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic).

El Almacén is dedicating this edition to the filmmaker woman, and will pay tribute to the director Gloria Rolando, one of the guests, along with the filmmakers Fernando Pérez y Alejandro Gil.

Tania Delgado, vice president of the Icaic, will share a workshop about the legal aspects applied to the audiovisual production; and the producer Aramis Acosta will talk about the creation for the Animation Studies in this institute.

The opening of the event will take place on day 23, with the projection of the documentary Diálogo con mi abuela, by Gloria Rolando, at 9:00 p.m. in San Juan de Dios Square.

The contesting works can be appreciated in the House of the Young Creator and in the Video Room Nuevo Mundo; and the award gala is scheduled in the Concert Hall José Marín Varona, on the day 26 at 8:30 p.m.
